Powell started his Scouting adventure with Pack 286, then Troop 286 in Odessa MO. He is an Eagle Scout, Vigil Honor Member of the Order of the Arrow, and a Firebuilder in the Tribe of Mic O Say. He has attended the 2016 OA Prism, 2017 National Jamboree, and in 2019 completed the 61.5mi BSA Swampbase high adventure in Louisiana. For the past 5 years he has been on the Central Camp Staff at Theodore Naish Scout Reservation, most recently as Senior Nature Lodge Instructor.
Powell comes from a Scouting family with his Maternal Grandfather and Father who are also Eagle Scouts, and his Paternal Grandfather and Father as members of the Order of the Arrow. He is a graduate of Odessa High School and currently attends MCC Longview to complete an Associates Degree in Computer Science before his planned transfer to the University of Central Missouri for his Bachelors studies.
